Chancellor of GUMS, Dr. Shahrokh Yousefzadeh-Chabak, pointed out that Guilan University of Medical Sciences has been working on a strategic plan since 2016 to join third-generation universities adding that the perspective of the Guilan University of Medical Sciences highlights the importance and place of research in this organization. He further insisted on the activities of 5 knowledge-based companies and 35 technology cores at the university; "The large number of technology cores shows the potential of the health field for research."

Dr. Ali-Asghar Ebadifar, also reviewed the results of the evaluation of the research activities of GUMS from 2004 to 2016 years, saying that the University has 450 faculty members and 5,000 students which is a good capacity to develop research activities. "There are 780 approved research centers in the country working in health field, which can participate in national and international research, such as the Razi Research Festival on Medical Sciences, to share their research results in a competitive atmosphere with others", He added.

Dr. Ebadifar also noted that by carrying out 400 research proposals approved by the University, we expect to see the development of research activities, especially the increase in the number of articles in the field of health. The researchers should consider the quality of the research instead of its quantity.
