Holding Seminar on Prevention of Trauma in Anzali
Trauma Prevention Seminar focusing on road accidents and drowning was held by GRTRC in collaboration with Social Affairs of Guilan Provincial Government and Social Determinants of Health Research Center at the conference hall of Islamic Culture and Guidance Office in Bandar-e-Anzali on March 12, 2019.
Deputy of Social Affairs of GUMS pointing to the declining trend of deaths this
year in Guilan province compared to the overall statistics of the country
during the same period, announced 32% of road accidents deaths in hospitals and
healthcare centers in the province. Considering growing population of Guilan during
the final days of each week, as well as the migration of residents of the central
Iranian plateau to the north of the country, Dr. Davoudi called for greater
attention and preparedness of institutions and agencies for preventive
education. The social deputy of GUMS also pointed out some factors related to
drowning in the province such as rip currents in the sea and the dangers of
insufficient knowledge and training of drowning people in the province's
coastal zone. He emphasized on the key role of rural governors in preventive
education to the inhabitants of the villages. Then, Dr Homaie Rad - faculty member
of GRTRC and Head of Social Determinants of Health Research Center of GUMS
delivered a lecture on the effects of alcohol abuse on driving accidents.
Colonel Jawar Saffari – Deputy of Road Police Commander, as the next lecturer presented
the province's traffic accident statistics for the 11 months of this year and
compared it to the same period of last year, and announced Gilan's fourth rank
in reducing mortality due to traffic accidents across the provinces. Finally,
Colonel Hajipour, Deputy of Operations of Gilan Traffic Police also pointed to
the low cost and ease of access to preventive education to reduce the incidence
of traffic accidents, and called for institutionalization of culture and
educational measures at household level.
